 FOODist brought the food industry together.

 
FOODist a winning event for all participants
 
                 
The FOODist Fair brought together leading top-quality companies, attracting a large number of visitors from export markets.
 
FOODist 2011 – the 5th Istanbul Food and Beverage Products Fair took place between December 8 and 11, 2011 at the TÜYAP Fair and Convention Center.
 
Providing companies in a consistently developing and expanding market with a platform to represent themselves directly and effectively, FOODist enabled the food and beverage industries in Turkey to grasp new business opportunities.
 
Export markets show keen interest
Almost 1000 foreign professionals from 19 countries attended
 
Thanks to the diligent efforts of chambers of industry and commerce, food industry associations and NGOs as well as the international offices of TÜYAP throughout the year, more than 1000 professionals –chain store buyers, wholesalers and decision makers– from Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia Herzegovina, Morocco, Georgia, Croatia, Montenegro, Iraq, Iran, Kosovo, Kuwait, Lebanon, FYRO Macedonia, Egypt, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Jordan and Greece were accommodated by TÜYAP, making FOODist an effective marketing platform for Turkey to achieve leadership in the industry and for helping the industry reach out to the global market.
 
A boost to the domestic market
 
 
 
The fair hosted a variety of events from baklava eating contests to an international conference on healthy diet.
 
Grain and organic foods are the main themes of an international seminar 
TÜYAP held a seminar on Thursday, December 8 in association with the Association of Organic Produce Manufacturers (ORGÜDER), Produce and Grain Processing and Packaging Industrialists Association (PAKDER) and Food Importers Association (TÜGIDER).
 
Speakers of the seminar were US Dry Bean Council (USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council) representative Johanna Stobbs on “New grain trends and purchasing habits in Europe and America,” ORGÜDER Chairman Ayhan Sümerli on “The importance of organic foods for health,” and Ender Saraç, M.D. on “The importance of grain in human nutrition.”
 
Turkey aspires to be a regional leader in rice  
TÜYAP and the Rice Millers Association (PDD) will hosted a seminar on Thursday, December 8 under the title “Turkey’s self-sufficiency and quest for regional leadership in rice.”  Speakers of the conference were PDD Chairman Ali Turgay Yetis on “Can we become a regional rice hub?”, Head of the Department of Food Engineering at Hacettepe University Professor Hamit Köksal on “Rice and food safety,” and Promedia / USA Rice Federation Representative Feray Alpay on “Healthy diet and obesity.”
 
Great treats from Puratos 
Chefs of the Belgian bread, chocolate and cake crafter Puratos displayed their creative ability in bread, cake and chocolate design throughout the fair.  Demo Chef Ramazan Karakabak, Chocolate Chef Mikail Kayra and Bread Chef Rüstem Yilmaz crafted and served a variety of Puratos treats.
