Is Sanat will be hosting one of the most important representatives of Italian period music, L’Opera Stravagante with a colorful program. Founded by the Italian lute player and artistic director Ivano Zanenghi in 2004, the ensemble consists of distinguished musicians each playing on period instruments. Recording with Zanenghi for privileged labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, Arts, ORF and Sony Classical, L’Opera Stravagante plays in different formations, depending on the instrumentation of the repertoire, in groups of 5 to 15 musicians. Thus the ensemble is able to interpret a wide range of music of the baroque and early classical period. L’Opera Stravagante is looking for the undiscovered jewels of ancient music, including baroque theatre, sacred and secular works while the main emphasis is placed on the 17th and 18th-century music in Venice. A large number of well-known soloists have joined L’Opera Stravagante for performances, especially the outstanding German soprano Simone Kermes, one of the most sought-after sopranos internationally for dramatic coloratura roles. She won the first prize in the Felix-Mendelssohn Bartholdy Competition in Berlin and was the Bach prize winner in 1996 of the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig. Her remarkable vocal range predestines her particularly for the virtuoso works of baroque masters such as Handel and Vivaldi but also for Mozart’s, Haydn’s and Beethoven’s sopranos and concert arias. Do not miss this baroque feast…
