Pay attention to this threesome! Virtuoso is bringing three magnificent musicians together in this second concert of the series. As New York Times mentioned “Her sound has passion, grit and electricity but also a disarming warmth and sweetness that can unveil the music’s hidden strains of lyricism”, Isabelle Faust draw big international attention after winning the 1993 Paganini Competition. Adopting a perspective on music in which ever-new experiences and discoveries are the principal focus, Faust’s latest solo recording of the Partitas and Sonatas by Bach was decorated with the “Diapason d’Or Arte” among others. In searching renditions of the chamber music repertoire in recordings for harmonia mundi with Alexander Melnikov, the duo recorded the complete Beethoven sonatas which received the “Choc de classica”, the “German records Critics’ Award” and the “ECHO Klassik Award”. Performing Rachmaninoff’s first Piano Concerto at the age of 12 and heavily influenced by Sviatoslav Richter, Alexander Melnikov’s recording of the Shostakovich cycle, released in 2010 with harmonia mundi, was awarded with the BBC Music Magazine Award 2011 in the instrumental category, “Choc de classica“ and the Deutsche Schallplattenkritik Award 2010. In addition to Isabelle Faust, Melnikov frequently comes together with his colleague Alexander Rudin to perform chamber music. Regarded as one of the prominent musicians of his generation with his versatility and over 30 recordings including Bach’s cello Suites and Myaskovsky’s Cello Concerto, Rudin is pursuing a dazzling career as a conductor, cellist, educator, researcher and orchestral arranger.
