LUZ CASAL
27 November 2012 20:00
Is Sanat will be hosting one of the most special voices of Spain Luz Casal. Moving to Madrid to pursue hear dreams, Casal became famous in the early 1980s, and remained an important figure in Spanish pop music all through that decade and beyond, with her sound gradually maturing towards soft adult pop. Her first single El Ascendor, released in 1980, took the Critics Special Award. Forming a new style in the Spanish music scene with her songs Ciudad Sin Ley and No Aguanto Más each becoming hits, Casal started to give clues about the diversity of her music with Eres Tú, involving rock essentials. Winning the Best Song award with Mi Confianza in 1999 and Soy in 2000, Casal made her name out of France and Spain with more universal songs such as Con Otra Mirada and Sencilla Alegria. In 1992, she enjoyed great success with her appearance in the soundtrack of Pedro Almodóvar\'s acclaimed film High Heels singing "Piensa en mí". In 2001, Casal received the Goya Award in the category of Best Original Song from the soundtrack of the animated film El Bosque Animado. Receiving the medal of the French Order of Arts and Letters in November 2009, Luz Casal revisits the 1950’s with her twelfth album “La Pasión”, a heartfelt, respectful tribute to bolero, the genre that dominated the Latin American music scene for most of the twentieth century.
